Tarot of the Mystic Spiral (Lo Scarabeo, 2012), a rather non-traditional deck. That can certainly be seen in this first card!
Today we have the Eight of Wands. Instead of a sense of speed, movement and messages, here huge wooden columns arch up over a green field. At the top of the highest arch hangs a ginormous white rose, while underneath a monk-like figure walks. Some of the meanings associated with white roses are purity, silence and humility, adding to the sense of a place for spiritual contemplation. This image really gives me that sense of awe and wonder that churches so often inspire with their larger-than-life proportions. I love, though, that it is all outdoors - a temple to the spirit of nature.
Today I hope to get out to our local heath, to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. It's something I've been longing for all week. Walking along the little paths and trails, breathing the scent of the earth as it begins to open to spring, and seeing the squirrels and birds getting active, is such a delight!
I am grateful for time spent in the beauty of nature.
